Asian Decor
Asian Décor is becoming a more popular form of decoration and concentrates main things in a room while keeping things to a minimal. One of the main focuses of this décor is color. Red is the color used the most because red is believed to give good luck, but, tans, browns, gold’s, and grays are also used in Asian décor. Earth tones are a good way to go in Asian Décor and when wood is used it should be chocolate or burgundy. The colors are the basis of Asian décor and lead to fully embracing the Asian culture in a room.
Another main focus of Asian décor is room dividers that are called Shoji screens. Shoji screens are traditionally made of white rice paper with art symbols of Asian traditions that are attached to bamboo or other types of woods. Room dividers are a main focus because the floor plans of Asian décor are minimal, meaning there is not a lot going on or a lot of clutter. Shoji Screens offer decoration in front of a window or an ugly wall, or can divide a room into more functional and personal spaces. Shoji screens will allow light to diffuse through them, often, making a tranquil space. Using Shoji screens with other Asian influences will give a truly authentic feel to the space.
Window treatments may be as important as Shoji Screens in Asian décor. Window treatments are meant to balance the room, there fore they should be colorful and patterned if the room has a neutral tone, but, the window treatments should be simple if the color palate of the room is colorful. Window treatments could be something as simple as bamboo blinds or textured fabrics with tassels. Also, a Shoji screen can serve as a window treatment if placed correctly, sense this screen allows light to come through.
Along with Shoji screens as room dividers or decoration, Asian décor also uses natural elements to enhance tranquility and energy. Bonsai trees and bamboo is a common in Asian décor. One might also consider adding a rock garden or a water structure, like a water fall or still water with fish. Nature adheres to the simple and tranquil design of Asian décor. Furniture in these rooms should have a multi function, like a futon being a bed and a couch, and should draw out the colors of floor coverings. Asian décor uses anything from mats to wool rugs that have the chosen colors of the walls in them.
It is important to remember not to overdo it in Asian décor. This is a very minimal form of art and a few well chosen pieces will go a long way. Buddhism also has a strong standing in Asian décor, so, a Buddha statue can be just as important as a Shoji Screen. Asian décor focuses on balancing the home, making it calming and tranquil, and encouraging the feelings of peace and serenity. Staying in tune with nature and focusing on staying simple is the key to Asian décor.

Home Decorating Idea – Use a Touch of Red to Add Beauty to your Home
Why use “a touch of red” in your home decorating idea? Red is the warmest of all colors and symbolizes vitality, energy, action and confidence. It makes a bold statement and is, incidentally, the color most chosen by extroverts. This article gives practical tips on using “a touch of red” in your home interior as well as suggestions for using “a touch of red” in various decorating styles.
In feng shui decorating, red is associated with power, love, inspiration and pleasure. Accent colors, such as red, which are more dramatic, are used in moderation, such as a single piece of art work or furniture. The reason is: the more intense the color, the less of it is needed for it to be effective. Thus, use lighter colors for larger areas with accents in more vibrant, dramatic colors. What an interesting home decorating idea!
A recent home decorating idea in our home became a reality by using “the touch of red” concept. Window coverings were installed on a series of three windows in the dining area. The coverings consisted of four vertical drapery panels made out of wool tapestry-looking fabric. The background of the fabric is medium tan with subtle red, green and blue flowers. The panels are outlined in a navy/small beige polka-dot fabric. A 6-inch cornice board covered with the same navy fabric completes the look. This window treatment may sound quite “busy” but is very pleasing to the eye.
To complete the home decorating idea of a “touch of red” look in the dining area and because the wool fabric is somewhat bulky, red tassel tie backs were added to the panels. In addition to the tassel tie backs, red was incorporated in the large picture on the dining room wall, in the table centerpiece and in a red chair cover. Another decorating project completed!
How can you use red décor and red accents in your home decorating ideas? Here are a few suggestions:
*Rustic Decorating Style – Red, green and black plaid work very well as accents.
*Modern Decorating Style – Basic and cool colors with a splash of bright red.
*Oriental Decorating Style – Think of using those luscious silk prints.
*Shabby Chic Decorating Style – Use red as an accent to contrast with the white shabby chic.
*Art Deco Decorating Style – Red is a vibrant and energetic color for this style.
*French Country Decorating Style – Use red to build on the rooster collections of this style.
*Cottage Decorating Style – Red is a great accent in cotton fabrics for cottage decorating.
*Mediterranean Decorating Style – Make use of red accessorized with blue and gold.
By being creative and using your imagination, you will have fun decorating with “a touch of red.” Make your home the envy of the neighborhood!

Decor and architecture magazines often trigger the dreamer in us, the dream of having their own home and probably you are living that dream. Along with the dream comes many things like renovating the home, brightening the interiors, new paint, decorations, wall pieces, show pieces, chandeliers etc… But sometimes, people also end up using so much decoration that it takes away the charm of living in that house.
On the other hand, you can experiment with earthen decors and subtle interior decoration or art to instill a new life into your home. One of doing is by introducing themes based on colors and the other is to use themes based on countries like using the Moroccan decor.
You would probably ask what is so great about Moroccan decor. There is a subtlety in Moroccan decor and it is very earthy in nature. The important point is that if you want your home to stand out of the crowd then you need to think different.

Moroccan culture was a mix of five ethnic groups, Arab, Berber, Islamic, African and Iberian and their heritage has survived the harsh destruction of time because till around the 20th century, the land was free from foreign invasion.
Around the early 1900s, Moroccan culture was influenced immensely by various characteristics of the European cultures but in spite of the influence, Morocco was able to keep its tradition, art & culture alive. Some instances are like the existence of the traditional Moroccan house with a garden in the interior, which is known as Riad and it has not changed for almost five centuries.
The Moroccan style and decor is spectacular in looks and sensuous in appeal and has been there was centuries. The intense colors of the Moroccan style cast a magic spell on anyone who uses it and even on those who see it.
Most of the Moroccan decor is created from a mix of raw terracotta clay, and the color can vary from the passionate red of the paprika spice to the intense blue of the Mediterranean and the shimmering yellow of the Sahara. You can almost feel the decor as if it were alive!
In fact one of the spectacular Moroccan decor is created with an intense blue as is there at Jardin Majorelle located in the Avenue Yacoub el Mansour in Marrakech.
You have to really see it to believe it but we warn you: you wont be able to stop yourself from falling in love with the color.
The blue is unique because no one has ever been able to copy it. But Moroccan decor is not just about vibrant colors, there more to it than meets the eye. You can use Moroccan lighting with different designs and patterns that has a subtle touch of Moroccan and Islamic architecture.
The intricately designed filigree lanterns with colored glass inserts is a temptation you can hardly refuse and it exudes a class that has elegance. There are special Moroccan henna lamps that come in a hue of colors and can hold you spellbound for hours.

Decorating with Style: Brightening Up Your Kitchen
Eyes are supposed to be the windows to the soul. While being able to read the people around you is important, properly accenting your real windows is a lot easier to accomplish.
A beautifully decorated home is a real joy, and one of the key elements to properly decorating your home is to put a good face on your windows. Window treatments are one of the quickest and easiest ways to dress up any house.
A room that is generally overlooked in window decorations is the kitchen. We spend a good deal of our lives in our kitchens. The necessity of food for survival makes the room that stores it a common location for family and friends.
Kitchen Curtains
There are a lot of aspects to consider when choosing the right curtains for any room. Since the kitchen is such an important location in the home, finding the right style can be very challenging.
There are dozens of possibilities available for choosing the perfect curtains for your kitchen. The first step is learning about all of the options for designs that curtain manufacturers provide.
Kitchen curtains come in as many shapes and sizes as the homes they fill. When starting the search for curtains, it is important to have the window’s measurements. If it is a small window, the style of curtains will be different than the style of a large window.
The choices for decorating can allow designs to be classic, simple, elegant, or fun. Like all areas of design, kitchen curtains can be used to express the personality of the decorator.
Decorating Trends
In recent years, decorating trends have moved away from individual expressions of style and centered more on what is currently fashionable. Many homemakers hire high paid interior decorators to customize their home. While these decorators can make a home stylish, they cannot capture the unique aspects of the personalities that populate the home.
Decorating a home is easy. Choosing the personal touches that customize a home is as easy as purchasing items that appeal to the occupants of the home. Human taste is so distinctive that the possibility of two people decorating their homes in the exact same way is nearly impossible.
The choices for fabrics and colors make curtains the perfect item to use as a starting point when decorating a room and deciding on a home décor style.
Choosing the Best Curtain Style For Your Home
Tailored, pleated, insulated and lined, tiered, ruffled, lace, sheer, and door panel curtains are the most common and popular styles of kitchen curtains available. Choosing the fashion statement that best fits your personality can seem overwhelming at the beginning, but with a little knowledge about each, one can quickly narrow the options to a few key designs that best suit the decorator.
Tailored curtains are straight lined, classically long curtains. They are generally hung alone, straight or tied back. Their clean lines appeal to many decorators who are looking for an elegant curtain display.
Insulated kitchen curtains are a common favorite. They are lined with an additional fabric that helps to insulate the window and makes a home more energy-efficient, enabling the household save money on their heating and electric bills.
Tiered kitchen curtains are short curtains, making them ideal for little windows. For larger windows, tiered curtains can be stacked to create the illusion of fullness or to combine complimentary colors.
For a more feminine look, the ruffled curtain can be the perfect choice. They are generally long and fringed, providing a soft feel to the room. Pleated curtains contain the same simple elegance as tailored curtains, but because of their pleats, they hang in a wavy fashion instead of straight.
For a beautiful accent to windows without blocking out much light, sheer and lace curtains are ideal. They can filter out the harsher light but still allow enough through to illuminate a room brightly.
Glass doors can be particularly difficult to cover because they need to maintain their functionality. Door panel curtains are specifically made to accommodate this unique problem.
Color Options
The colors and patterns on curtains are limited only by the imagination of the maker. Curtains can easily be customized to match any room’s décor. Finding a color or pattern can that is especially appealing can inspire the color patterns for an entire room.
Multiple colors together can accent and enhance each other. A solid color panel chosen from a patterned curtain can emphasis a particularly appealing aspect of that pattern, creating a very lovely window treatment.
In Conclusion
Decorating can be a very enjoyable experience that will allow the average homemaker to personalize her home with the flair of a professional home decorator. Windows are generally considered to be one of the most important features in any room. They allow a great view and permit natural light to enter a room at precisely the right level. Drawing attention to such a wonderful feature will increase the beauty of any room in your house, but in the kitchen, windows will brighten the day of all who enter.
